Unavoidable
The Lac Blanc
The Lac Blanc is a high altitude lake in the Vosges mountains, located in the commune of Orbey.
It takes its name from the colour of the crystalline sand at the bottom. Located at an altitude of 1055 metres, it occupies a natural glacial cirque, in a setting of rocks and fir trees.
The lake is dominated by a fortress-like rock called "Hans Castle". Legend has it that a cruel lord lived in the castle that once towered over the rock and terrorised the population. Today, Hans Castle is primarily a magnificent viewpoint from which to admire the Lac Blanc (in the summer months). A statue of the Virgin Mary, perched on Hans Rock, overlooks the lake.
There are many activities at the Lac Blanc resort in winter: cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, tobogganing, or sledging on the Tricky Track. In summer: hiking, barefoot trails, accrobranche, paintball, bike park and mountain bike circuits.
Come and discover the beautiful countryside and enjoy the fresh air of our mountains.
Winter equipment is mandatory to access the white lake (snow tyres/chains or socks).
